Hello! Last week I read about some general concepts of language acquisition. Of course ,this is a broad and complex topic. But today I'd like to write a bit about Chomsky. Chomsky developed a "nativist" approach to language acquisition that would emphasize language as knowledge and that would cover it's unique aspects. He conceptualized language acquisition in terms of initial and final "states" of the mind. In the beginning is the mind of the new-born baby who knows no language, termed the initial zero state. And at the end is the adult native speaker with full knowledge of the language, which is a static state. The final stage consist of a core grammar instantiating the principles and parameters of UG, which is the common possession of all humans beings.
